OSTIM Technical University's Commitment to Sustainability
OSTIM Technical University, aligning its vision with becoming the "University of Industry," conducts education, research, entrepreneurship, and prototype production activities through a robust collaboration model involving industry, the business world, and society. Acknowledging the importance of minimizing the direct and indirect adverse effects of its operations on social, economic, and environmental dimensions, the university is dedicated to ensuring the sustainability of its enhanced processes while contributing meaningfully to society.
In pursuit of this objective, a Sustainability Office was established on July 1, 2021, to oversee and coordinate efforts in education, research and development, social collaboration, awareness initiatives, and campus sustainability in line with the university's vision, mission, and strategic development goals. To strengthen these efforts, a Chief Sustainability Officer, reporting directly to the Rectorate, has been appointed to oversee the integration of sustainability principles across academic units.
The university's sustainability journey began with the launch of the Physical Campus Development Master Plan, a strategic framework to guide sustainable development in areas such as infrastructure, space optimization, environmental preservation, energy and waste management, landscaping, campus facilities, and fostering a sustainable lifestyle. Following the successful implementation of this plan, OSTIM Technical University embarked on the development of its 2030 Strategic Plan for Sustainability, centered on the theme " Empowering Change, Ensuring Sustainability.” This comprehensive roadmap, spanning 2021 to 2030, is structured around Governance and Management, Teaching and Learning, Research and Innovation, and Sustainable and Wellness Campus.
A pivotal aspect of this initiative is the adoption and understanding of the Sustainability Charter, which serves as a guiding document for all university stakeholders in their collective pursuit of becoming a sustainable institution. This charter aligns with the United Nations Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs) for 2030, addressing 17 key indicators, as outlined below.
